Write a paragraph in which you reflect on (not simply summarize) your role in your group's collaborative process. How did you facilitate the collaboration? What would you do differently next time to better facilitate the collaboration? Be sure to reference specific examples from your group work.
In my group I helped come up with an idea with one of the pictures. I helped facilitate the collaboration by keeping the group moving from place to place. Next time we do an assignment like this I would try to talk through ideas more when we are planning. This time during coming up with ideas I wasn't paying much attention and we ended up having to change our idea midway through which made us have to rush our idea and not be able to do all the things we wanted to.
ReplyDeleteDuring the visual essay activity I think I was mostly contributing during the creation of the slideshow. I helped with ordering the pictures and writing the captions. Since the pictures were all on Marielle's phone I could not really help with that as much as I would have wanted to. If we were to do this activity again I would try to make the slideshow a bit more collaborative.
ReplyDeleteIn our group, I helped come up with a few ideas for pictures and meanings. We struggled a bit with our initial idea, so we changed it in the middle which slightly affected our ability to accomplish everything we wanted. However, we worked well together and got the job done efficiently. Since we had a bit of trouble with ideas, the time limit was almost a problem, but we managed to come up with ideas together and finished with time to spare. One thing we could’ve done differently was to use the notes that we took. Having them on hand would’ve been a lot more helpful because we probably all came up with good ideas but weren’t able to use them because we forgot them.
ReplyDeleteIt was very difficult for my group to stick with a single character. In class we had decided on Clay, but after realizing that his particular traits would take longer than twenty five minutes to find we agree on Kat. I contributed to giving other suggestions to characters or alternate traits that might help with the conflict. After taking ten minutes deciding on a new character and there traits it was time to shoot. We took about two minutes on each station deciding the angle we wanted to shoot at. In the end collaborating with my group was quite successful.
ReplyDeleteI felt that my group did a great job in collaborating effectively. In the beginning, however, it was shaky, as Regan and I were mostly taking the pictures and didn’t include Michael much. He accidentally got left behind in the library. When we got back to the classroom, we all worked together. We all agreed on which pictures should be in our presentation and what they should generally represent. I placed pictures and named them, while Regan and Michael made captions. Overall, despite our rocky start, I felt that we all did our part in including each other and contributing to the project.

ReplyDeleteToday in English, I enjoyed our visual essay. It started out with a lot of confusion, but I figured it out by the end. I liked how interactive the project was, but towards the end I was confused again. The instructions weren’t super clear for me, which though it provided some room for you to fill it in, it was still very confusing. I think that our group worked well together, but when we became crunched for time, there were less chances for everyone to work together, and one person just had to rush and get everything done.
ReplyDeleteI felt like our group activity in class today was relatively successful. My group consisted of Julia, Anais, and myself, and we worked and focused pretty well together. In any group project there's bound to be conflict, but whether there's disagreement or difference in ideas is not what defines good collaboration - it's how that conflict is handled that matters. I really felt like even when any of my groups' members differed in opinion (which, granted, did not happen often), we respectfully discussed the different ideas of one and other, which led us to collaborating very well. I really enjoyed this activity, and am pleased with how well my group cooperated.
ReplyDeleteMady, Dylan, and I worked pretty well together, and we agreed on most of what we wanted to do and display. We decided to go to the library and take a picture of a group studying their computers and talking, which showed technology and collaboration. My group combined our ideas really well and I am proud of our final product. However, I would have liked to leave more time to format the presentation and finalize the captions.
ReplyDeleteLuisa, Dylan and I worked well today during our collaborative activity. We agreed on most of the ideas we each thought of and had the overall same idea of where we wanted the project to go. Even when there was conflict, which there wasn't very much of, we respected each other's opinions and found a way to compromise. My group decided to go to the library to illustrate Penumbra's love for books. We had other ideas during the process, but overall, I am happy with how our group worked together and how the product turned out.
ReplyDeleteIt let me post now:
ReplyDeleteIn my group I helped suggest places and ways to take pictures. I contributed to conversations about how we might relay the feelings of our character. After we had taken pictures, I helped arrange the pictures on the slides and write descriptions. If I would change anything about this, I would give more time to take pictures. I also would have more time to work on putting pictures on the slides and writing descriptions, so that we could display our characters feelings in the most effective way.

ReplyDeleteIn my group we got the work done but I definitely think we can improve. I feel like there was one person who took over and wouldn't let me contribute my ideas, that later on they said they thought we should have done. What we did was take pictures of classmates/ group mates displaying characteristics of Kat's personality. Next time I think we should find a deeper meaning and a deeper way to portray these characteristics through our pictures, but we got some good shots! The feedback we got from class today was really helpful and I will make sure to keep it in mind next time!
(It wouldn't let me post before)
ReplyDeleteAt first I thought this activity was super strange. I didn’t really understand why would do it or how to. But after finishing the project, I started to understand the meaning behind the activity. I figured out that by doing this project it really helped me to both understand more about my character and to learn how to dig deeper than a picture itself. Looking at pictures and trying to decipher what the meaning and reason behind it teaches you to always search for another reason and meaning within everything.
